Video Premiere: Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus “I Want it All”

Check out the new single from Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus. ‘I Want it All’ has an infectious rolling rhythm that makes you want to move and sway, over which characterful vocals and a fluent melody make for a timeless song that brings to mind the likes of The Byrds and Tom Petty. Produced by Ron Flynt of the band 20/20, the sound is rich and full with Flynt’s Hammond B3 adding a lovely sonic layer. ‘Want it All’ features harmony vocals from BettySoo, particularly sweet as the song draws to a close.

Patton says of the song’s theme: “I co-wrote ‘I Want it All’ with my friend Mookie Siegel. Thematically, it reflects two sides of the same coin. I think that, ultimately, it really takes very little to make me happy. I also believe it’s a shame that so many people in this world never manage to attain simple things. On the other hand, I know a lot of people who have so much, and yet still can’t get enough.”Indeed. That search for happiness and contentment is so often simpler than we imagine.

He adds about the video, in which we see the performers recording in the studio: “We wanted to replay but not reproduce what we did on the album, so we brought in the same band, except for Michael “Cornbread” Traylor played bass, so Ron could add keyboards. It was a lot of fun, making the videos with this great band.”

The song is taken from Patton and Brokus’ 8th album, “Two True Loves”, which is due to be released on 12th September 2025. We must applaud that level of consistent creativity and quality. Look out for the new collection towards the end of summer. In the meantime, sing along to this, and try to find a little of that happiness and joy.
