Video Premiere: Melissa Ruth “A Good Man”

Check out the brand new video from British Columbia’s Melissa Ruth.  The song opens with her classic-sounding voice, a timeless and melodic vocal that engages the listener from the first few notes all the way through.  ‘A Good Man’ also features an excellent extended, laid back guitar solo that grows naturally from the song’s melody.  Blues guitarist Johnny Leal, Ruth’s husband and regular collaborator, delivers an engaging performance.  Above all, ‘A Good Man’, demonstrates Ruth’s ability to craft a satisfying song.

Melissa Ruth finds that she’s in demand in various roles: as well as performing, she produces others’ music and works as a music teacher.  This single is taken from Ruth’s recent album ‘Bones’, her fourth self-produced record, which she describes as, “North Country Western Country music with a Canadian Pacific Northwest feel,” She adds, “This album is a collection of songs that surfaced as a result of slowing down and re-focusing, some are very old songs and some were urgent and written a few weeks before recording. They all feel necessary.”  Indeed, “…slowing down and refocusing,” often works wonders and Melissa Ruth returns with a fine record, displaying all her songcraft.  ‘Bones’ is out now.  Enjoy.
