We’re delighted to premiere the latest single from Pete Muller. The Latin-inspired ‘One Last Dance’ features the powerful vocals of the outstanding, GRAMMY-winning Allison Russell. Themed around an inevitable failed romance, the song is built upon the woozy, warm stand-up bass, over which layers of fluttering guitar, keys, trombone and sweeping violin combine to create a full, glorious, cinematic sound. Muller’s smooth, clear voice blends effectively with the rich, dynamic strength of Russell’s vocal delivery, which flies as the song grows. The end result displays Muller’s excellent songcraft, and the artfully shot video shows the simple joy he finds in performing with his band.

Muller told AUK about the song: “I was thrilled when the amazing Allison Russell agreed to sing a duet with me on the title track of ‘One Last Dance’. She recorded her vocal in an afternoon session at New York City’s Power Station with our mutual friend Matt Marinelli and even added some of her signature clarinet playing. We also made a wonderfully noir video, directed by Simon Lane and shot in a Brooklyn diner transformed into a French café. The short film beautifully captures the emotion behind the song, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Of course, video shoots are never easy, and this one was no exception. A generator malfunction meant Allison and I waited around for six hours. Despite the delay, she couldn’t have been more cheerful, and when it came time to perform, she was every bit as soulful and powerful as you’d expect. Allison Russell is a gem, and I’m deeply honored to have her as a collaborator.”

‘One Last Dance’ is the title track from Muller’s brand-new album, which is released today, 14th November 2025. For the first time, Muller took on production duties for the album, recorded with his band, The Kindred Souls, at Peter Gabriel’s studio in the UK. The follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2024 album “More Time”, “One Last Dance” once again finds the singer-songwriter, businessman and philanthropist in fine form.

Muller says of the new songs: “Sometimes less is more. I’ve led a curiosity-driven life, and I feel grateful to have had adventures that few get to experience. But recently, I’ve been finding more joy in the little things, in the small moments of beauty and wonder that only show themselves when you slow down and pay attention.” And it’s those ordinary but wondrous moments that are revealed alongside Muller’s characters in the songs of this new collection. “As you get older, it’s easier to sit around and reminisce about the good old days. In the end, though, all that does is take away from your ability to focus on what’s right in front of you, to celebrate your life as you’re living it.” Indeed, “One Last Dance” is a celebration. Delightful, joyous music to immerse yourself in.
