Video Premiere: Wyatt Easterling “Throw Caution to the Wind”

The rhythm flows and rolls in this uptempo new single from Wyatt Easterling.  ‘Throw Caution to the Wind’ projects an uplifting message of hope for a fresh start, reinforced by the song’s sonic layers, particularly the bright-sounding guitar.  Easterling’s vocal is heartfelt and intimate as he sings of starting over: “Makes me wanna run somewhere we’ve never been // Baby I  don’t need to see this town again // I don’t know where it ends but I’m ready to begin // Take only what we need and throw caution to the wind.”  The engaging melody he finds is the highlight of the song.

It’s taken from the new album ‘From Where I Stand’, , Easterling’s fifth, which he started back in 2019 and completed during the pandemic.  Lockdowns afforded Easterling the opportunity to devote more time to the project, ensuring the quality of songwriting was consistent.  He explains: “The unexpected arrival of Covid 19 struck the world dumb as we knew it and stopped us all in our tracks. If it weren’t for all the suffering and loss of life, I would consider this time a God send that enabled me to experiment with different approaches for these songs.”  This collection is full of honest, authentic songs that are well-crafted and showcase Easterling’s fine singing; his warm, soulful voice is simply a real pleasure to listen to.

Easterling has undertaken various roles within the music industry: producer, music publishing, and working in A & R for Atlantic Records.  He established an annual songwriter’s retreat held at Miles Copeland’s Chateau Marouatte in France, where he was joined by the likes of Jon Bon Jovi and Carole King.  Over the decades, he’s worked with prominent names, such as Keith Urban.  These experiences have all informed his own writing process, leading to an absorbing piece of work.  Enjoy.
