Newcastle’s Attention Seekers are back with a new song, which frontman Alan Fish wrote following his eldest daughter getting married in May. As he told us, “It was never my intention to write a ‘wedding – themed’ song but the subconscious has a funny way of working… On the eve of the big day, at about 4.00am, the melody and words to ’The Third Day Of Spring’ entered my mind. I shot out of bed, headed downstairs and activated my home recording studio. By 8.00am, the song was pretty much complete. I wish that would happen more often.”
The song recorded in Newcastle’s Cluny Studios features some lovely solos from the talented Niles Krieger on fiddle and Shona Newey on accordion, and also features Trevor Brewis on drums. It’s a joyful four and a half minutes with some sublime harmonies – as Fish commented, “In these times of conflict and division, it’s a song celebrating the ultimate symbol of unity and commitment, marriage”. Sadly, mine is currently to my Switch 2.
