Here’s a little bit of musical magic.  ‘Tennessee Rise’ by The Tennessee Freedom Singers is a fabulous showcase for some of the most seriously talented singers around.  Many of the most celebrated voices in country and Americana have contributed to the song, including Emmylou Harris, Brandi Carlile and Amanda Shires.  The thirty-strong choir, led by GRAMMY-winning Allison Russell, triumph in this anthem for social justice issues and in support of Gloria Johnson’s campaign to be elected to the United States Senate.

Written by Russell and JT Nero, the lyrics of ‘Tennessee Rise’ refer to a mass shooting at a Nashville school, which led to protests about the state’s gun laws.  Along with Justin Pearson and Justin Jones, Gloria Johnson was a member of the ‘Tennessee Three’, a group of Democrats that Republicans tried to expel from the Tennessee legislature in 2023 following the protests.  Now, the song reinforces Gloria Johnson’s Senate campaign this autumn.

Additional artists involved in the project include: Katie Pruitt, Mary Gauthier, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Jaimee Harris, Kyshona Armstrong and Tre Burt.  Musically, ‘Tennessee Rise’ soars, the blend of voices sounding glorious and heavenly.  Be absorbed.
