Today’s slice of Bluegrass comes from Woody Platt who left teh Steep Canyon Rangers in 2022, and has now got an album of his own – ‘Far Away With You‘ – on the way with an October 11th date planned.  As he explains: “I was ready for a break from the road but not necessarily from music.  Naturally, on my first record, I returned to my roots for a straight-ahead bluegrass project.

The new song pairs Platt with contemporary bluegrass icon and former Hot Rize frontman Tim O’Brien on harmony vocals and their paired voices are the perfect vehicle for this song about a wandering spirit feeling the pull of Appalachia.

Toe The Line‘ was written by Barrett Davis and Josh Carter and is propelled by Bennett Sullivan’s banjo and Casey Driessen’s fiddle.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
