That’s it for another dry and hot week dear reader. The rain is coming but cool down in the meantime with a new stripped back version of a song from an album we glowingly reviewed last year, describing it as “Top drawer new Appalachian folk… a classy, highly recommended album”. Watchhouse used to be called Mandolin Orange, but despite the name change, the Chapel Hill, North Carolina duo’s sound is as effortlessly elegant as ever – the songs are still likely to produce goosebumps. Which will cool you down briefly for 10 seconds. Have a good one.
The Duo album, with the stripped down versions of their last band album is a much better release. The songs make much more sense with room to breathe. The arrangements are poised and glowing.
