It’s been a few years since we last featured Sara Rachele. We hear she’s spent some time teaching but is now getting back into recording some new music. Both things are good news in their own way. For us, though, the release of ‘I Can’t Relate to You’ is the prime area of concern right now.
Co-produced by Rachele and Binky Griptite (of The Dap-Kings!), ‘I Can’t Relate to You‘ features Rachele on vocals, Griptite on guitar, engineer Chris Cubeta (Jukebox the Ghost, John Hammond) on bass, Siggi Birkis (John Mayer, Butch Walker, Will Hoge) on drums, and Joe Gransden (Amanda Shires, The Wood Brothers) on trumpet.
Speaking of the song, Sara Rachele says, “I started out trying to write a love song, but it didn’t really work because the person I was writing the song to was somebody I just didn’t understand. I realized I didn’t have the capacity to say what I wanted to say, or to even communicate in a meaningful way, because I didn’t have a salient connection or ability to empathize with this person. So that’s where the title came from, and the title carried the rest of the song, which ended up being about the inability of language to communicate, and the resulting point of frustration and isolation.”
