Drea Lake “Sturgeon Moon” – harvesting love

Drea Lake has a plan for the Autumn and beyond “Will you join me in September? Where the golden fields do swell“, she sings, describing a harvesting of memories which will serve to carry positivity through the darker days encroaching at the end of the year. It’s a metaphor.

Drea Lake explained how the song came about: “Sometimes the bitterness makes things all the more sweet, and August is the time of year in Canada when I feel that the most. I had mentioned to my friend and co-writer, James Maltese, that I wanted to write a song to capture this time of year when feeling the edges of fall creeping in make you appreciate summer even more. Wistfulness goes into each bite of fresh peach.

It’s a lovely song that carries forward this week’s undeclared theme of seasonal nostalgia – it comes from Drea Lakes’ new album “A Call From Somewhere Else” which the Canadian is planning on releasing this Autumn.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
