Ardentjohn “Hey Boy” – doing all right in the sunshine

And, not for the first time we want to say “Hey Girl, Superstar DJs…here we go“, but let’s not fall into that cliché.  Especially when it would be so inappropriate since what we have here is something new for all of those who’ve been asking “when do we get some new music from a UK based band making sunny West Coast influenced sounds that are perhaps just a little reminiscent of Teenage Fan Club.”  For all of you, can we present Ardentjohn, originally formed in Edinburgh and whose members hail from across Scotland, England and Spain, staying connected through their shared love of making music?  Course we can.

This is the band’s first new music since their album Malin Head, which was released to good reviews just before the start of the pandemic.  And the band want people to know that “Ardentjohn are BACK with a song full of hope as we tumble out of winter, spurred on by sunny days ahead.  And there is no doubt Hey Boy is a statement song to set the tone.”  No argument from us on any of that!

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
