The Lost Brothers have released a new single from forthcoming album ‘After the Fire After the Rain’, which is expected in February. ‘After the Fire’ was written after spending a night sitting around a campfire with old friends. However, the song took on greater significance when, on the day it was tracked, they learned that The Plaza Dancehall in Donegal, where they had performed often, had been destroyed by a fire. Oisin Leech of The Lost Brothers describes the song as: “…a statement of perseverance and survival against the odds. A flower growing from the aftermath rubble from the ashes…a refusal to back down…a warning to the wicked.”
The song benefits from a number of top-class collaborators, such as Tony Garnier, who has played with Bob Dylan, on upright bass and a brass arrangement from Paul Brainard (The Eels, The Decemberists). The atmospheric video was directed by Gavin Wood in a Monaghan and a copper mine in Anglesey. The vocals of Oisin Leech and Mark McCausland are beautiful together and it’s an excellent taste of what’s to come from the new album.
