Norway’s Siv Jakobsen has released her new single ‘Island’ taken from her forthcoming second studio album ‘A Temporary Soothing‘ which is out on April 27th via U OK? It’s an album that covers an eclectic range of approaches to the folk / singer-songwriter genre. ‘Island‘ for example throws a good measure of electronica into the mix, whilst the song is a thing of beautiful purity.Siv Jakobsen here makes a strong deceleration for emotional self sufficiency “I am free/ … / I am an island” and yet that very act of standing alone is part of the temporary soothing of the album title – as Siv says “It’s a way for me to look back and see what I have been going through, both the good and the bad. What I hope for is that people can take it and understand what they have been going through personally, too.”
Siv will be touring Europe in May, with a few UK dates:
May 16 – Glasgow, Hug & Pint
May 18 – Manchester, The Castle Hotel
May 19 – London, Courtyard Theatre
