All those who saw Kashena Sampson’s first UK appearances in 2019 will have been asking themselves “when’s the next tour?” and “when’s the next album?” We can answer the second of those – ‘Time Machine‘ will be released on September 10th. Whilst everyone has had a hard time over the last year and a bit, Kashena Sampson can add tornado’s impact to her woes. as she explained: “I had $3 in my bank account but I thought, ‘I’m working on Tuesday, I’ll be ok. Then the tornado hit and that didn’t happen.” The album was ready to go but Sampson was suddenly shy of funding – Kashena funds her music through a bartending job at The Basement East which was destroyed by the March 2020 tornado that hit Nashville just a few weeks before the pandemic did. “I had the record ready to go, and then the tornado took away the funding for it.”
‘Whole lot Better‘ is a great cut from the new album, driving along at an insistent pace, with Kashena Sampson celebrating the joy of making a right move.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
I hope Kashena does make it back over here. It was courtesy of the AUK review of her previous album that I got to see her in 2018 at the excellent Lantern in Halifax, and I highly recommend both her, and the venue.

It was 2018 (not 2019!) – wow, I feel like I lost a year somewhere…..
