Alysia Kraft’s new single ‘Cold Mountain‘ reflects on struggles she has been through and was, she says, written “in a moment of fully feeling how brutal and beautiful life can be all at once.” ‘Cold Mountain‘ is, she adds an exploration of ways in which we “find the space to feel both the grief and hope we need to keep going.”
Her new album ‘First Light‘ reflects further on experiences of growing up on a cattle ranch in small-town Wyoming and choosing to love within a landscape that didn’t always love back – which is a pretty way of saying it was not exactly welcoming to concepts of LGBTQ equality. And while many might have made a raucous statement as a response to this, Alysia Kraft has instead made smart, lush indie-folk, as ‘Cold Mountain‘ more than demonstrates.
