William the Conqueror announce extensive UK tour

William the Conqueror are set to head out on the road for a 21 date stint, including 4 festival appearances. The trio of Ruarri Joseph (vocals/guitar), Harry Harding (drums) and Naomi Holmes (bass) will feature songs from their second album, ‘Bleeding on the Soundtrack,’ which follows the release of debut ‘Proud Disturber of the Peace’ back in 2017. Both albums are intended to form parts of a trilogy of autobiographical records capturing different periods in Joseph’s life. Whilst ‘Proud Disturber..’ celebrated Ruarri Joseph’s free and easy childhood spent in Cornwall, sophomore release ‘Bleeding on the Soundtrack’ tells a darker tale of addiction and divorce.  Continue reading “William the Conqueror announce extensive UK tour”

I’m With Her + John Smith, Hackney Empire, 19th March 2019

Considering I’m With Her performed at the Bush Hall and Union Chapel when they toured the UK back in 2018, the choice of venue this evening could be interpreted as a measure of this trio’s ambition, or is perhaps a testament to their burgeoning popularity, or maybe it’s just a desire to play in arguably the most attractive venue in London – or it could be a combination of all three. Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou “Fair Lady London” (Maiden Voyage, 2018)

This is the fifth album release from the Hastings-based husband and wife folk duo. While previous album ‘Expatriot’ benefited from the input of renowned record producer and recording artist, Ethan Johns, who also provided recording facilities and production values from his home base in Wiltshire, this time out they decided to strip everything back – recording ‘Fair Lady London’ on an old Tascam 4-track recorder in a castle in East Sussex – preferring the ‘head space’ of such an arrangement over the somewhat fussy environs of a studio. Imperious sounding Portland quintet bring new album to the UK

The Delines head out on the road at the end of this month to promote latest release ‘The Imperial.’  Fans of the group will no doubt be excited at the prospect of seeing them since their last UK tour back in 2015. Cam Penner and Jon Wood “At War With Reason” (Independent, 2018)

You know an album’s made an instant impression when your first response on reaching the end of the last song is to immediately give the record a second airing, as well as committing to take the time to discover the artists’ back catalogue. Such is the case with Cam Penner and Jon Wood’s ‘At War With Reason.’ Almost impossible to pigeonhole musically, the whole ensemble makes more sense once you realise that Cam Penner listens almost exclusively to hip-hop, soul and electronica because he doesn’t want his creativity to be unduly influenced by other Americana artists.  Continue reading “Cam Penner and Jon Wood “At War With Reason” (Independent, 2018)”
