Bear’s Den has announced the details of their new EP ‘First Loves’ set for release on June 23rd through Communion Records. This release comes after their fourth album ‘Blue Hours‘ was released last year. ‘First Loves‘ includes singles’ Evelyn‘ and ‘Summer and Smoke‘, based on the Tennessee Williams play of the same name.
Principal songwriter Andrew Davie explains, “‘Summer & Smoke’ is inspired by the play of the same name by Tennessee Williams. The play centres on a young love that cannot quite work out. Two people who fundamentally are drawn to each other but due to timing and their opposing, shifting worldviews cannot be together. I was really inspired after seeing the play and the story’s unresolved tension brought up many feelings around desertion and loneliness that I could relate to from early relationships in my life.“.
Martin Johnson spoke to Davie last year about his songwriting and you can read that interview here. For now, the EP will be available to stream only; you can check back for details of a physical release.
