Beth Bombara “Growing Wings” – Listen

This superb song from Beth Bombara finds her edging almost into Neil Young territory, it’s that key change almost a minute in and the combination of harmony voices. ‘Growing Wings‘ is taken from Bombera’s 2019 release ‘Evergreen‘ which really is a classic set of country nodding rock songs.

Where did this song come from though?  Glad you asked as Beth Bombara has told us the tale: “Remember the super blood moon this past winter? I stayed up to watch it, and then I couldn’t sleep despite all my best efforts. Something about it stirred some things up inside of me. So, I got my guitar out and much wrote this whole song at the kitchen table at 3am. I didn’t really know what it was about when I was writing it, but a lot of my songs start that way and end up being reminders to myself to hold on to the positive things in life.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
