Buffalo Rose “Runaway” – forging a link to the future

Buffalo Rose, a six-piece band from Pittsburgh, have been busily building their reputation following the release of their debut album ‘The Soil and the Seed‘ in 2018.  They’ve released two EPs since, and have been the opening act for bands such as Wood Brothers, Pokey LaFarge, and Tyler Childers.  They have a new album being prepared for release later this year and in February will release a special EP called ‘Rabbit.‘   Special in the sense that the four songs consist of two Tom Paxton songs, and two co-writes with the legendary Tom Paxton.  Tom also sings on one of the songs – a cover of his ‘I Give You the Morning.

Not just simple retreads of old songs, Buffalo Rose bring their own modern folk sound to the music – partnering gorgeous vocal harmonies with a string-band of dobro, mandolin, guitar and bass.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
