Here’s the good news that you’ve been waiting for all year – the return of Darlingside with a new single ‘Ocean Bed‘. Darlingside celebrated their 10th anniversary as a band in May – and if we were a little slow to pick up on them on this side of the pond hopefully we’ve made up with our continued adulation for one of the finest baroque-folk-chamber-pop bands there is.
One of the big break-throughs was a wonderfully memorable gig at the Union Chapel, which showcased their special harmonies. And it’s all been up from there.
The new single, ‘Ocean Bed‘ doesn’t disappoint – there’s a play of light and shade, like sunlight glinting through water, as Darlingside sing “Restart in the old familiar dark we’re swimming through / Long view into the blue“. The last album was ‘Extralife‘ in 2018 – so hopefully this is a taster of more to come. And soon.
