Devil Doll released her new album ‘Lover & a Fighter’ on May 1st – it’s a combination of Outlaw Country and a Punk attitude. On the ‘Ballad of the Rearview Mirror’ she’s joined by Charlie Overbey for a blistering guitar swagger of a song.
It’s full of classic references – there’s the almost ‘Ghost Riders‘ theme to the intro’, to the allusion to any number of songs – with ‘Ring of Fire‘ standing out most prominently. No surprise that since Colleen Duffy has made it clear that she created Devil Doll with a simple mission: Putting sex back into rock and roll modelled after her heroes Joan Jett, Johnny Cash and Mae West. Mission Accomplished.
