Exclusive AUK Backstage Video: Annie Dressner, Lucy Grubb, Dan Wilde & Luke James Williams

This March, a group of fine singer-songwriters will be hitting the road together, performing solo and in collaboration with one another, and delivering a unique experience for music-lovers.  Annie Dressner, Lucy Grubb, Dan Wilde and Luke James Williams are all well-regarded musicians in their own right and what they have in common, aside from the quality of their acoustic performances, is a shared love of timeless songcraft.  Between them, these artists have released critically-acclaimed albums and EPs and have appeared at various festivals, including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk, Green Man, Red Rooster and Black Deer.  And, of course, Grubb recently took third place in our very own Twang Factor contest.  Check out her competition song, recorded exclusively for AUK here.

The shows are all in intimate, grassroots venues where you’ll see the artists play their own and one another’s songs, weaving their performances together in a way that will bring their work to life.  Named the Songwriters’ Circle Tour, this collaborative endeavour will highlight the great artistry behind their songs.  Dates for the six-date UK tour are below.

Just before the tour begins, we’re delighted to share an exclusive peek behind the scenes as the talented quartet rehearse and test out one another’s songs.  It’s a taste of them in song together but also a glimpse of what life is like for working musicians behind the scenes.  From performing on a radio show to the rehearsal room, via the queue for the toilet, this is an authentic view of the four at work.  Above all, we get to share in the sense of camaraderie and the sheer joy in playing together, amongst friends.  Many thanks to all the artists involved and, particularly to Annie Dressner, who edited the footage to create this exclusive film for AUK.  This is roots music, creatively presented and performed in independent venues around the UK.  Check out this exclusive, explore each artist’s excellent catalogue and then get yourself tickets for a show.  The date in Stroud is, of course, Mother’s Day – so treat your mum with a ‘buy one get one free’ for Mother’s Day deal on tickets.  Buy a ticket and bring your mum for free – your mum will love it.  Enjoy.
