Ferris & Sylvester “Rain” – here comes the rain again

Americana favourites Ferris & Sylvester’s latest single ‘Rain‘ is taken from their latest album ‘Otherness‘ which will be released 14 days before the Ides of March.  Archie Sylvester and Issy Ferris will doubtless be playing it – and a lot of the new album – on their extensive tour which kicks off in February, 6 days before Valentine’s day, in Milton Keynes.  Where will they be on Valentine’s Day itself? – they will have reached Hull.  There must be a pun in there somewhere.

The soulful ‘Rain‘ opens the  second side of the album (well, on vinyl it does) and Issy Ferris says of it that, “It is a song about how change is inevitable, and you’ve got to embrace it to move forward. It’s a new year and it feels like the right time for this track to come out. It marks a change in the album too. From Side A, to Side B. Change can be a scary and lonely thing. We hope this song can be encourage and empower people when they’re in the thick of it.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
