Great Peacock “Miss You Honey” – Listen

Great Peacock are a Nashville band who’s Southern Rock has attracted the attention of Rolling Stone who last year noted them as a New Country Act You Should Know.  And who are we to argue with Jann Wenner’s rag?  Come on, dear reader, you know that we’d argue with anyone but in this case there’s no need to.  Great Peacock are indeed worth hearing.

They have other friends too -. My Morning Jacket’s Tom Blankenship appears on Great Peacock’s new album.  Originally he was going to contribute to just one song but he fell in love with the work being made and asked to stay for the whole ride.   ‘Miss You Honey‘ is taken from the band’s new album ‘Gran Pavo Real‘ and reflects their gentler side.  They can also rock rather well, and their pre-album single with their take on ‘Cortez the Killer‘ is worth searching out.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
