I See Hawks In LA have huge summer tour of the UK

Earlier this year I See Hawks In LA brought out a new album,  ‘Live and Never Learn‘,  a full and long five years after their previous masterpiece ‘Mystery Drug‘.  The new album drew on recent hard times experienced by band members – deaths of close family members being the worst – through its evolution and delivered another set of superb songs.  We said right here that ‘Mystery Drug‘  has “a wide brush of scenery and humanity and fine details of emotion and small but significant scenes. It’s organic, and it’s real. It’s some album (10/10)”. And we liked ‘Live and never Learn‘ pretty much with the same fervour “I See Hawks in L.A. have succeeded in recording an album that both showcases their own distinctive musical talents whilst, whether by design or accident, tapping into some of the heart and soul of 70’s California. And that is no bad thing“.

So here’s no surprise: we’re bursting with excitement of the announcement of more than just a handful of concerts in the coming months.  July and August will have I See Hawks in LA criss-crossing the country from tiny house concerts to festival appearances.  It will be amazing, of that we’re sure.  By the end of the tour the band will have the 17th anniversary of the release of their eponymous debut – on September 11, 2001. They didn’t get rich, they didn’t get famous, and yet they’re still here, perhaps benefitting artistically from the rocky passage. The rich flavour of battered soul. It’s clear these Hawks are in it for the music, for each other, and for the adventure of it all.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
