Will there ever be enough songs in the world about trains? Not as long as the engines that pull ’em are the most romantic of all moving machines and “you can’t hop an airplane like you can a freight train.” Which brings us to Jackson Scribner’s new single ‘Train Song‘ which speaks of finding love when not looking for it, and of rootlessly drifting through a life of hard times but holding to the belief that “life it ain’t so bad.”
‘Train Song‘ comes from Scribner’s second album “Depression Kids“, which seems at times a throwback to the Great Depression in its tone, but is also born of mental health struggles as Scribner describes: “I knew what I was writing about this time, it’s funny how depression is this isolating thing, and yet, almost everyone experiences it at some point. The feeling of isolation, ironically, can be a point of connection. That’s what making music is about, bringing people together.”
