An impressive trio of southern rock and alt-country music stars are joining forces for a tour in September with eight dates across the UK. Having never previously played on a bill together, Jason and the Scorchers, Dan Baird and Homemade Sin, and The Kentucky Headhunters will hit the road for the first time in a unique tripleheader, with each band due to play a full set.
Throughout the ’80s and ’90s Nashville’s Jason and the Scorchers tore up venues across the world and became legendary for being one of the most exciting live bands of their era, combining traditional country with high-energy punk rock. In 2008 they were awarded the Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance. Of the forthcoming dates Jason Ringenberg said: “As the British would say, I am “chuffed to bits” to be doing the UK tour with The Kentucky Headhunters and Dan Baird. I am a fan and a colleague of both acts. Golly what a dream line up.”
Ex-Georgia Satellites frontman and leader of the Homemade Sin, Dan Baird was diagnosed with leukemia and forced to leave a tour in 2017 with the band so he could receive medical treatment. His sideman, Warner Hodges, from The Scorchers stepped in at their Ramblin’ Roots show and ably acquitted himself on vocal duties, while Joe Blanton took over for the remainder of the tour. For the forthcoming triple header, Warner Hodges will also join Dan Baird with Mauro Magellan on drums.
With a new album due out in August called ‘Screamer’ Dan Baird said: “we are bringing our version of the rock’n’roll circus to possibly the very best audience (UK) in the world this fall. Come see the show that none of us want to have to close. The gauntlet of rockin’ is guaranteed to be flying all night. You’ll get your money’s-worth”.
