Track premiere: Jason McNiff “One Too Many Mornings” – Dylan reimagined

Jason McNiff has a new single out – and in the best of the new traditions it’s a double A-sider and one of those A’s is a Dylan cover.  It makes sense, and it’s wonderful to hear this covering Dylan thing finally get revived.  Jason McNiff’s other A is ‘Tom‘ from his recent album ‘Dust of Yesterday‘, which we reviewed here.  This is a slightly different version to the album track – and the old “album version is not the same as the single version” is another great revival.

Jason McNiff brings his own world-weariness to ‘One Too Many Mornings‘, breathing his own take on the melancholy of an ended affair into the song.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
