Jim Basnight “Summertime Again” – well, we can dream

This latest single from Power Pop obsessive Jim Basnight is not exactly timely as we head into the coldest weekend of the year (well, so far) but it does offer a promise that there will be endless days of sunshine and relaxation coming soon (well, in about six months and after retirement age respectively I guess).  It’s taken from the new album ‘Summertime Peculiar‘ which Jim Basnight describes as offering a slight change of direction “The album is a departure musically, as I get into a lot of new feels and instrumentation, including horns, woodwinds, strings and unique vocal arrangements, to go with a wide swath of feels.”

Jim Basnight also recently scored an appearance on the Cherry Red Records release ‘Looking For The Magic: American Power Pop In The Seventies‘ where his band The Moberlys could be found alongside the likes of Ramones, Cheap Trick, Todd Rundgren, MC5, Badfinger, Runaways, and Big Star.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
