John Canning Yates “Faraway Blues” – Will you no come back again?

This track is taken from the forthcoming solo album ‘The Quiet Portraits‘ from the former Ella Guru singer and songwriter and is a late night reverie, drifting into early morning and reflecting on thoughts of separation, and reflecting on journeys’ beginnings, affinity for the natural world, and wondering what will come next.  It’s a complex series of thoughts, no near somnolence tumble of disconnected ideas rather a conscious stream, underwritten by a concern that that which has become two may never become one again.  It’s a hushed piece as befits the lateness of the hour, when the rest of the world is at peace.

The album ‘The Quiet Portraits‘ arrives on the 19th of this month on Violette Records – and there’s a vinyl release too.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
