John Mellencamp “Chasing Rainbows” – Too many dreamers, too few dreams

Album Cover Painting by Speck Mellencamp

John Mellencamp’s growls out on his new song a wish to disassociate himself from those chasing fortune and fame.  Hell, he admits to doing it himself but found that when he got to where he thought he wanted to be there were a lot of others jostling for the same thing.  And money, he posits, may be able to buy anything – but that’s not really what matters.  They’re just things, they aren’t the reality of what’s good in life.

Chasing Rainbows‘ comes from the new album ‘Strictly a One-Eyed Jack‘ which will be released on Republic Records on January 21st 2022.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
