John Mellencamp’s growls out on his new song a wish to disassociate himself from those chasing fortune and fame. Hell, he admits to doing it himself but found that when he got to where he thought he wanted to be there were a lot of others jostling for the same thing. And money, he posits, may be able to buy anything – but that’s not really what matters. They’re just things, they aren’t the reality of what’s good in life.
