Julian Taylor “Running Away” – got to catch a fast train…

Well, the answer to yesterday’s question is no, but we’re still in the realm of things not working out right with this latest release from Julian Taylor, who questions his motives on ‘Running Away‘ asking “Am I getting over it or am I just running away?“.  It’s a fast paced and electric country-blues influenced which was influenced by Taylor’s raising, as he has explained: “All my life, I’ve been a huge rural blues fan, my grandfather used to spin old blues records like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee when I was a kid, so that kind of rockabilly country blues groove lives inside me. It speaks to letting go, and trying to elevate oneself from burdens that have caused hurt.”

There’s a great pace to ‘Running Away‘ and Julian Taylor has explained that: “I love that this is the first take of the song, right off the floor. We cut it a few more times but nothing had the electrifying spark that the first take had. I can’t wait to play this live!”  And, as regular Americana UK readers will recall, that will be a great gig, and there are UK dates planned for this Summer: August 22 – 31 – UK Tour (dates to be announced soon!).

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
