Miscellany Of Folk “Stone Of Destiny / Plains Of Joy” – it’s time to jig

It has been too long, we agree, since the last Wednesday Instrumental Interlude Wind Down on Americana UK (which we sometimes snappily refer to as WIIWDAUK, once you say it once you’ll be saying it all the time).  So here we are at last with if not exactly a quiet relaxing moment then definitely something to get up and jig about to, or, if that’s asking too much then in all likelihood it’ll set you tapping the extremities of your limbs.

Miscellany of Folk are Eddie Costello, Billy Sutton & Benny McCarthy, and the band was the result of a partnership that found its roots at the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival in 2022.  They have an album out now, called ‘Atlantic Roots‘, which aims to bridge the musical traditions of Ireland and Newfoundland.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
