Nikolaj Grandjean “Seven Wild Horses“ – Listen

Nikolaj Grandjean says of his music “I used to say the recorded works were songwriting, love songs, intimate, or lo-fi, with a twist of reggae. Today I would say that we do love songs with a clear vibe of Americana.”  And today’s song, taken from his upcoming EP of the same name, was released in mid-December as the lead single.  There is not a hint of reggae.

Instead there’s an echoey low-fi vibe on this song and lyrics which reflect on insecure love, as Grandsjean explains ” ‘Seven Wild Horses’ longs for the one and only; it longs for a soul mate, the complications that come along with the depth of that partnership, and the beautiful steps along that journey.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
