Our new AUK supporters playlist is out today – win a vinyl copy of the new Old Crow Medicine Show album

Our new playlist of the best new Americana we’ve heard over the last month is out later today exclusively for AUK supporters including new tracks by Calexico, Spiritualized, Ferris & Sylvester and Cowboy Junkies plus some lesser known artists which might not be on rotation yet but they will be. Hey, we know you’re busy people so let us do the work of curating down the last month into 90 minutes of pure goodness. As is our wont, we also have a great exclusive giveaway for our supporter which is this month a nice sealed vinyl copy of the new Old Crow Medicine Show album ‘Paint This Town’.

On ‘Paint This Town’, Old Crow Medicine Show offer a riveting glimpse into American mythology and the wildly colourful characters who populate it. Co-produced by OCMS and Matt Ross-Spang the album pays homage to everyone from Elvis Presley to Eudora Welty while shedding a bright light on the darker aspects of the country’s legacy. Fuelled by Old Crow’s freewheeling collision of Americana, old-time music, folk, and rock & roll, the record turns razor-sharp commentary into rapturous sing-alongs.

In our review last month, we said of the album: “The original crowd-pleasing string band revival outfit, Old Crow Medicine Show might have new rivals in the shape of The Dead South but ‘Paint This Town’ allows them to stake a claim to still be the best. The album is chock-full of shit kicking roustabouts, some of which tackle troublesome contemporary issues, while the current line up of this ever shape shifting band (veterans, Ketch Secor, Morgan Jahnig and Cory Younts, are joined by Jerry Pentecost , Mike Harris and Mason Via) veer away at times from string band music to a rockier and gutsier sound.”

You can become an AUK supporter for just £2 a month here. Thanks in advance if you are able to support us.
