Carla Olson has recorded The Who’s classic song as a support to the band’s Teen Cancer America charity. Having become aware of their work, the immediate thought was, “how can we help?” and the initial idea was ‘Women Sing The Who‘, which gained some good support as a fundraiser idea from both the charity and The Who’s management. And then….pandemic. As a restart of the idea Carla Olson has recorded a fully rocking version of ‘I Can See For Miles‘, which will be followed by ‘Baba O’Riley’ by Christy McWilson & the Picketts. For today’s recording the band are Carla Olson: vocals, guitars; Gary Myrick: guitars; Lou Castro: bass and Ben Lecourt: drums.
Olson also has an album ‘Americana Railroad‘ with Stephen McCarthy (The Dream Syndicate, The Jayhawks, The Long Ryders) coming later in the year. This will include the Gene Clark song ‘I Remember The Railroad‘. Carla, of course, recorded ‘So Rebellious A Lover‘ with Gene Clark, and Stephen McCarthy also played on that album. Funny how the circle comes around, is it not?
