Park Hills Circle “All Of A Sudden” – seasons change

Park Hills Circle is the solo project of Maris Tierney, and Alaskan-Irish singer-songwriter who lives in Chicago.  She’s just released the debut album All Of A Sudden, and today we have the title track to share.  Maris is a classically trained guitarist and soprano and her ethereal, traveling fingerstyle motifs and arrangements of nested vocal harmonies reflect her twin heritages: the ancient mysticism and storytelling of western Ireland, and the freedom and scope of mountainous Alaska.

The album All of a Sudden takes many themes of transitions – Maris collaborated with her twin sister, violinist and poet Bryce, for nearly a decade in the duo Maeve & Quinn – but needed a new musical pathway when Bryce moved to Colorado.  The album reflects on this and other changes arising from the rhythms of living alone, caring for mental health, and finding trust in a romantic partnership.  The title song is something of an encapsulation of all these diverse changes.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
