Something for the weekend: Toad the Wet Sprocket “California Wasted”

Well that’s it from us for this week and we leave you with a new version of one of my favourite songs of all time from California’s Toad the Wet Sprocket. California Wasted originally appeared on the band’s 2013 album New Constellation and I used to play it so often at the time that it became like a kind of signature theme tune for when I walked into a room. This “reimaging” as they say these days is taken from the band’s new acoustic Rings sessions, which AUK’s Darren Lumbroso reviewed last week, saying: “These new recordings provide a timely reminder that many of Toad the Wet Sprocket’s songs still possess a quiet beauty many years after the original versions were released.” Still holding out that they may return to our shores one of these days but holding your breath for decades on end is a difficult thing to do!

Take care, don’t forget Palestine and keep fighting those fascists. See you next week.
