Here’s the new single from North Dakota-native singer-songwriter Andra Suchy. Based around a steady, thudding beat and fuzzy guitar, Born to It is most notable for Suchy’s outstanding vocal performance, reinforced by lush harmonies and backing. Resonant and powerful, Suchy’s voice ranges high, soaring with stirring strength and displaying fabulous technique and control. With her enchanting delivery, Suchy captures our attention and conveys an important message about being ourselves.

Suchy says of the song: “I wrote this song in one night. The guitar part I initially played was my Suhr Tele (her name is Jayne Mansfield), straight into a Princeton Reverb 68 reissue, cranked, and I got this really intense and cool tone. This song speaks to figuring out that you need to do you. Lean into it, you do you, and I will do me.”

Andra Suchy has channelled personal loss through her words and music. These experiences have shaped her and her writing; she has rebuilt and re-emerged like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a symbol that she has proudly tattooed on her arm. Raised on a North Dakota farm amongst a family of musicians, Suchy was destined to forge a life in music. Now based in Minneapolis, she has performed at renowned venues, such as The Ryman Auditorium, and was a regular performer on the radio show A Prairie Home Companion. Over the years, she has shared stages with the likes of Emmylou Harris, John Prine and Nick Lowe. At the end of January 2026, Suchy released Battle Cat, her first full studio album for some years. Blending folk, country, americana and pop influences, these well-crafted songs are showcases for Andra Suchy’s gloriously soulful voice. Enjoy.
