The late ‘60s were a strange and interesting time so it shouldn’t be seen as too surprising that a Jewish Philadelphia born jazz fan, who had actually managed to shake John Coltrane’s hand, formed a Western Swing band in Paw Paw, West Virginia, after attending a Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen gig. Various americana tours and festivals cancelled or postponed

Well this will come as surprising news to precisely no-one but the tour and festival cancellations are coming in thick and fast in the light of restrictions around travel and public gatherings now in place across the UK and the rest of the world. Jeffrey Foucault & Ry Cavanaugh have announced the “cancellation / indefinite postponement” of all April dates in the UK, as has Eileen Rose & The Holy Wreck who had dates planned for April/May, and Frank Turner for his remaining dates this week. Red Rooster Festival announces second wave of acts

Red Rooster Festival in Euston Hall, Suffolk has announced its second wave of acts, including a UK festival exclusive from Asleep At The Wheel who celebrate their 50th Anniversary. The festival is also set to include special performances by Chuck Prophet & The Mission Express, Jim Lauderdale – who is a 2-time Grammy winning Americana icon – Reverend John Wilkins, CC Adcock & The Lafayette Marquis, Tommy McLain, Jontavious Willis, Izo Fitzroy w/ Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir, and The Vagaband Youth Orchestra. Asleep At The Wheel explore “New Routes” this September with UK tour

Asleep at the Wheel have announced a short run of live dates in the UK this September.
