Video: The Americans “No Fun”

The Americans certainly look like they’re having plenty of fun here while performing their version of ‘No Fun’ by The Stooges.  It’s up-tempo, foot-tapping, headbanging stuff and the Los Angeles rock and rollers bring the song right up-to-date.  The Americans were putting the finishing touches to their first new album since 2017’s acclaimed ‘I’ll Be Yours’ and preparing for a summer tour when the lock-down changed everyone’s plans.  Great band.  Great energy.  Enjoy.

The Garage at Highbury Corner  is one of those large black sheds which holds around 600 people and it was sold out on Tuesday night for Lukas Nelson’s first big headlining gig in the UK. Already making waves after backing  Neil Young on several albums and tours, Lukas Nelson was one of the standout performers of C2C earlier this year, his appearances there winning him many new fans who turned out to watch him on a hot and sticky London summer night. The Americans (nice ones) arrive in UK for dates next week

We leave you this weekend dear reader with news that Los Angeles quartet The Americans are returning to Europe for a series of shows this summer including some high profile support slots in the UK with Eric Clapton at BST Hyde Park and The Gipsy Kings at Kew The Music in Kew Gardens and Cambridge Corn Exchange. The Americans announce UK tour dates

Following the release of their album “I’ll Be Yours” which we reviewed last week, Los Angeles band The Americans have announced a UK/EU tour for November, which includes dates at The Louisiana in Bristol, Gullivers in Manchester and London’s Borderline. Having started out as a roots band enthralled by pre-war American country and blues, they have evolved into an amalgamation of those influences, injected with a blue collar rock’n’roll attitude, “absorbing and reconfiguring the history of American music from Chuck Berry and Tom Waits to Bruce Springsteen.” Oh and the lead singer has very good toothpaste.
