The East Pointers “Anniversary” – and it’s Tin

Well, we’re assuming that we’re talking about a tenth anniversary as The East Pointers sing “ten years and a trip to Newfoundland” before adding what we’re all thinking “just want to play banjo in a band.”  The East Pointers play upbeat folk influenced Americana with a pop edge – we’re talking Lumineers territory.  The song does have a somewhat darker edge as the opening lines hint at, with drinking being used as a self-medication.  As Jake Charron of the band explains: “Anniversary’ is a song about how making one positive decision can change the rest of your life.   Eleven years ago on his birthday, our late band member Koady Chaisson made some major changes to his life to improve his mental health, one of which was becoming sober. This is a song to celebrate fresh starts, milestones, and the wins we have along the way, big or small.

The East Pointers have a two leg tour of the UK in 2025, but even before the dates below there’s the chance to see them closing out the second Canada night (22nd January) at Moth Club next week  as part of Americana Week (what we used to call Americanafest UK) as part of the Americana Music Association UK’s week long conference.  You can get tickets and info here.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
