The March Divide is the stage name of Jared Putnam and his latest album ‘Anticipation Pops‘ emerged at the back end of August, and revealed in the a musician moving in a different direction. Unlike his previous three releases Putnam chose to record at home on the fly, skipping his usual demo and pre-production process. It gives the new music a spontaneous feel that inform his lyrically deft songs.
Between albums Putnam likes to release non-album singles – which brings us neatly to ‘All I Wanna do is Laugh‘ which is one such. Its wryly humorous as it rolls along a line of self-deprecation with a side-order of I don’t give a damn: “Everybody says they hate me / well pretty soon they’ll learn to miss me / when I’m gone / don’t worry – I won’t be gone for long“. Get ready for handclap percussion and harmonica, for it is coming.
