Well, this is the way it goes – you head off for a few days rest and relaxation and everyone and their monkey decides to release a song, so expect some big names over the next few days. And let’s start with this version of ‘Get Behind The Mule‘ from the great Tom Waits of whom no introduction will be required here. This is a previously unreleased version of the song that has been issued to mark 25 years since Waits’ thirteenth album ‘Mule Variations.’
It was Waits’ first release on indie label ANTI- Records. A sister label to the legendary punk outfit Epitaph Records, ANTI- was formed in 1999 specifically to release ‘Mule Variations.’ Says Epitaph Founder and CEO Brett Gurewitz: “Reaching the 25-year milestone for Anti Records, I am filled with gratitude for Tom Waits and his album, ‘Mule Variations’ album which didn’t just start our label; it sparked a lasting partnership built on trust, creativity, and a love for pushing artistic boundaries”
ANTI- President Andy Kaulkin ads that: “I’ve personally been a major Tom Waits fan for as long as I can remember. We started the label to release his music. Tom’s embodiment of the spirit of artistic authenticity and resilience was our north star when we started out, and his unparalleled creativity continues to inspire and drive everything we do.”

If you're stuck for stocking fillers for 6 different people this Christmas, Tom Waits is set to release newly remastered versions of each of his acclaimed albums in the Anti-catalogue next month. Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
