Let’s face it, you look at that picture and you know this is going to go one of two ways – that’s either a sensitive singer-songwriter or a fuzzed up rocker in the Ty Segall mould. And in this case, since we’ve had something of a glut of sensitive singer-songwriters it may be a pleasant relief to know that today’s premiere is definitely more of the fuzzed up end of Americana rock. And that’s not too surprising since Los Angeles based Charles Moothart spent the last 13 years touring in Ty Segall’s live outfits. ‘Hold On‘, though, is the latest single from his upcoming solo debut under his own name album ‘Black Holes Don’t Choke‘ which is released this month (tomorrow to be exact) on In The Red Records.
‘Black Holes Don’t Choke‘ was written, recorded, and mixed entirely by Charles Moothart in his Los Angeles studio, and he plays all of the music heard on the album. The implementation of samplers is a noteworthy development as well as the general inclusion of more electronic elements.
