Lee Street Lyrical are a duo of Buddy Case and Casey Penn, who are preparing for the release of their debut album ‘Waiting In The Wings‘ from which today’s Track Premiere is taken.  It’s a song, perhaps not too surprisingly, about the pair’s home state and is something of a paean to its natural beauty.

As songwriter Buddy Case told us: “For this song, the melody came first and was inspired by the beauty of a friend’s gospel song,” he recalled. “I was inspired by the transition to falsetto as we sang through one special section of the song, and I wanted to capture that feeling in my own song. As far as the lyrics, there’s a longing that goes with that type of melody, and I’d spent a lot of time on the road by then and had felt that longing for home. Whether I was in Texas or Nashville or wherever, I always looked forward to getting back to Arkansas. The state is personified as a woman in the song, hence the chorus lines,I leave her, but I come back every time”.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
