Track Premiere: MorningBird “Birds And Bees”

Morning Bird started out as a duo of Rob Wheeler (guitar, mandolin, harmonica, stomp box), Jill Burkes (violin, guitar) but expanded to a trio with the addition of upright bass and guitar player Josh Palmi.  They are all set to release their debut album ‘Echoes In The Media‘ which features a mix of three traditional songs and eight band written songs all in an American acoustic folk style which is rich in harmony vocals.  ‘Birds and Bees‘ is one of the new songs which finds thoughts of a new romantic interest pushing out any hopes of sleep “never did me good trying to count all them sheep / over active brain but it ain’t that deep.”  There may be a slight fly in the ointment though: “I think you know your baby has got me week at the knees / Sweet like honey way up in the trees / Wishin’ we were livin’ like the birds and the bees.”  Be that as it may – rocky road or no up ahead, there’s a driving passion to this song and the intertwining vocals simply shine.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
