We have some good news for you today – there’s a new VanWyck album on the way, it’s called ‘The Detour‘ and it hits the streets, canals and internet sources on October 30th. Today’s song is the second single and see’s VanWyck offering some friendship and support: “I met God at the corner shop / She was looking kinda lonely so I gave her a nod / She smiled back and we started to talk .“ It’s upbeat, but there are some subtexts to be found – ‘The Detour‘ is a lockdown album, and that chimes with God’s exposition that “There’s a lot to be said for having a plan / There’s a lot to be gained from acting fast / There’s a whole lot of sense in being direct.”
There’s irony and hope, and a gentle insistence that there’s a lot to be said for drifting off the route and taking those untrodden paths – or just finding the time to go for coffee with God and see what’s she’s thinking about these days.
