Video: Greensky Bluegrass “Get Out”

Greensky Bluegrass is a band that truly delivers a fusion of old and new, a fresh spin on bluegrass that is informed and inspired by traditional sounds and instruments but reaches for something distinctively theirs.  Mandolin-player, Paul Hoffman, says of the band: “Greensky is and always has been very unique in our world.  We put our love, energy, and focus into what we appreciate about our music. We come together as a band in a way that’s organic. We take a lot of pride in how we grow and challenge each other too. We’re maturing together. I think we get more Greensky all of the time.”  Hoffman is joined in Greensky Bluegrass by Anders Beck on Dobro, Michael Arlen Bont on banjo and guitarist Dave Bruzza, all held together by Mike Devol’s warm upright bass.

Here’s the video for ‘Get Out’, the latest single from the Kalamazoo-based group.  Hoffman reflects on the song: “‘Get Out’ is anchored in internal reflection but also includes commentary on our society’s struggle to better itself.  Recognizing patterns in our behavior doesn’t always make them easy to correct.”  ‘Get Out’ is most notable for the stunning musicianship.  In particular, we are treated to absolutely captivating, intricate solos on the mandolin, banjo and Dobro, with the band members taking turns to demonstrate their true quality.  Like the previous single, ‘Congratulations & Condolences’, this song is a rare B-side recording from recent album ‘Stress Dreams’, which is well worth checking out.

The band are continuing a long tour across the USA – check out the dates here.  Along the way, they are being supported by a host of excellent acts, including Amanda Shires, The Wood Brothers, The Teskey Brothers and Molly Tuttle.  With great energy, Greensky Bluegrass promise to deliver an outstanding live show.  While you’re waiting for them to wind their way to a town near you, enjoy ‘Get Out’.
