Snow Patrol’s Nathan Connolly recruits Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil for an acoustic take on ‘Fires’.   A simple live video shot with the two performers perched on stools and harmonizing.   This is the first single from Connelly’s debut solo album ‘The Strange Order of Things’.

About the live performance, Connolly said, “I have known Simon since back in my early days with Snow Patrol. The first show I remember playing together was a Zane Lowe MTV Gonzo show in Glasgow in 2003. Over the years we occasionally mentioned doing something together at some point. Finally, the opportunity came in the form of ‘Fires’. He is extraordinary and came at the song from somewhere I don’t think I would or could have. This was the first time we actually played the song together. We had a blast. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.”

Nathan Connolly began working on his solo album with producer Rocky O’Reilly in Belfast in 2017. After a lockdown-imposed hiatus paused Snow Patrol’s touring plans, he was then able to finish the project in early 2021. “Although the album is not about home,” says Connolly, “I felt compelled to make it there.”
